The global forum themed “Higher education in the AI era” co-hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Times Higher Education (THE) was successfully held in Hotel ICON on 29 November 2024. The THE Global AI Forum brought together academics and industry leaders in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and education to share their insights on the latest advancements in AI and the opportunities and challenges that AI may present to their institutions.
Prof HU Xiangen, DoIHERD, was one of the panellists during the morning plenary session. Surround the topic “Preparing for success: Redefining education for the AI era”, Prof HU and his fellow panellists examined the transformative power of AI and shared predictions for the future of higher education.
Education and Innovation Showcase, coordinated by IHERD and Educational Development Centre (EDC) featuring practical applications of advanced technologies, is an important part of the Forum. The eight booths showcased PolyU colleagues’ pioneering work, most of which have received international recognition and/or collaboration opportunities from industry leaders.
The Showcase was an excellent complement to the discussions and sharing within the main programme that highlights the innovative talents of PolyU’s colleagues. The participants of the Forum were impressed by the cutting-edge technologies showcased.
