Dr Richard LUI, IHERD Fellow, has been shortlisted for the AI in Education Award by QS Reimagine Education through his project titled “GPTutor: A GenAI-powered Learning Platform for Healthcare Professional Career Readiness”.
The AI in Education Award is a category under The 2024 QS Reimagine Education Awards. The achievement is remarkable as only the projects ranked in the top 25% of the over 1,300 submissions could be shortlisted. The competition was fierce with an array of innovative projects, and the evaluation was conducted by more than 800 international judges.
Dr LUI’s shortlisted project introduces GPTutor, a Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) powered intelligent tutoring system developed at PolyU. With GPTutor, students can engage in self-directed learning by asking questions about the course content provided by instructors. Instructors and students can generate review questions and flashcards based on the instructor’s learning materials to practice and improve knowledge retention. The platform also allows instructors to create realistic simulation-based learning scenarios, such as virtual patient simulations, with 3D avatars and text-speech capabilities.
The list of awardees would be decided during the QS Reimagine Education Conference to be held in London, United Kingdom from 9-11 December 2024.
