Over the past few months, Prof HU Xiangen, DoIHERD, engaged with various stakeholders of higher education to discuss the applications of advanced educational technology.
Prof HU shared with the academics his expertise in large language models and intelligent tutorial systems, and their applications when he participated in Global Smart Education Conference 2024 in Beijing during 18-20 August 2024, The 2nd Smart Education Summit in Beijing during 23-24 August 2024, and The 4th International Conference on Educational Technology in Wuhan on 13 September 2024.
Prof HU also presented his paper “Socratic Playground for Learning (SPL): A generative AI enabled platform combines assessment with tutoring” at The 9th International Association for Computerized Adaptive Testing in Seoul, South Korea on 24 September 2024.
Populated with university students, Prof HU’s talks at the Finals of the Higher Education Track in The 7th Global Competition on Design for Future Education in Beijing during 26-28 July 2024 and the National Top Psychology Students International Summer School [translated] in Guangdong on 25 August 2024 gave student participants a general overview of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), guided them to weigh on the pros and cons of the use of GenAI, and illustrated the possible future of the interaction between HUmans and machines.
Prof HU engaged with the industry as well. He visited the headquarter of Beijing Zhipu Huazhang Technology in Beijing on 29 July 2024 to explore opportunities to collaborate on projects related to higher education research and development with higher focus in AI technology.
