Course Description:

• Understand the process of extracting data which is presented in a web page and then converting the data into a structured format data in R for further analysis

• Get hands-on experience on web scraping with RStudio

Course Outline:

1. Introduction to web scraping
2. Procedure of web scraping
   1. Find a web page that you want to scrape
   2. Extract desired components from the web page
   3. Convert the extracted data to a data frame in R
   4. Export your data to external files such as csv and excel
3. Demonstration on web scraping of popular web pages by R language
4. Practical coursework throughout the workshop
