Robert Park is a managing director at State Street Bank & Trust. Based in Hong Kong, he oversees Business Development of Securities Finance in Asia, and before his current role, he headed prime services business in Asia.
Before State Street, he was the Head of Delta 1 trading, Asia ex-Japan at Nomura International Hong Kong where he joined from Lehman Brothers Hong Kong after the bankruptcy. During his time at Nomura and Lehman Brothers, he was responsible for managing Delta 1 derivatives trading including equity swap, listed index, custom index, ETF etc. Prior to Lehman Brothers, he worked as proprietary trader for JP Morgan Hong Kong and conducted arbitrage trading in Asian markets. Earlier in his career, he worked as a trader of fixed income at BNP Paribas Hong Kong and Chicago Mercantile Exchange in Chicago.
Dr. Park teaches business strategy and finance to master's and MBA students at Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Professor of Practice. His research focuses on the strategic management and behavioral aspects of financial institutions. As a way of giving back to the community, he mentors a start-up business that develops catastrophe risk models to improve the accuracy of damage to buildings and structures from natural disasters.
He holds a doctoral degree in business administration from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, master’s degree in financial mathematics from The University of Chicago, a master's degree in finance from DePaul University, and bachelor’s degree in economics from Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, Korea.
