Antiviral and Antibacterial Products Using 3D Printing Technologies
Various antibacterial and antiviral plastic products were tailored and printed with our in-house formulations. Through digital light processing technique, 3D-printed products with high resolution were fabricated to have a very smooth surface that avoids trapping dirt. In a series of laboratory and field tests, it was confirmed that our 3D-printed antimicrobial products can exhibit outstanding antibacterial and antiviral effects in 3 years.
Some trial covers in Hong Kong Wetland Park were made for 5-month field test, such as, different shapes of covers for door handles, door locks in toilet cubicles, drinking water dispenser, signage and lift buttons with braille characters. Used-clothes recycling banks were also installed with our 3D-printed antimicrobial handles for second field test; up to now, there are 40 in Hong Kong to keep protecting the used-clothes donors and recycling workers.
