A new way to reduce energy consumption of central air-conditioning systems

Indirect Evaporative Cooler for Efficient Energy Recovery

This innovative indirect evaporative cooler (IEC) significantly recovers energy by using exhaust air and water evaporation to cool air. The specially designed IEC has a series of alternating wet and dry channels for exhaust air and fresh air to pass through respectively. The channels have hydrophilic and hydrophobic coatings respectively on the inside channel surfaces, which can increase the cooling efficiency. The cooler can save around 17% to 35% of energy. Compared with existing energy saving technologies for air conditioning systems such as heat wheel, IEC is lower in energy consumption, easy to maintain and environmental friendly. It is also suitable in both dry and humid regions.
