Building Management System Equipment in the Intelligent Building Laboratory

Major Functions / Key Features

The IB Laboratory provides facilities for R&D on intelligent building technologies, including the development of advanced building system control, energy management and diagnosis strategies, big building operational data analytics, demand response strategies for smart grids and network communication software. The laboratory also facilitates the teaching and learning of relevant subjects for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department. The IB Laboratory also provides technical support to PolyU’s sustainable campus development. A centralized campus energy monitoring and assessment platform is developed in the Laboratory to enhance the energy performance of campus buildings, which are connected to the platform via campus network. Through various knowledge transfer activities, the IB laboratory helps many local developers and building owners to improve building energy efficiency by optimizing the building air-conditioning system design and control as well as performance assessment/diagnosis.
