Laser Rapid Forming (LRF) System

Specifications

Major Functions / Key Features

  • Optomec offers a 300 mm cubed work envelope and is specially configured for the rapid alloy development, functional prototyping and medium size part repair applications
  • A 1kW IPG Fiber Laser with wavelength of 1070 nm, a hermetically sealed Class I laser enclosure, a 3 axis motion control with four powder feeders and LENS control software
  • This systems use energy from a high-power fiber laser to build up structures one layer at a time directly from powder - metals, alloys, ceramics or composites
  • The multi-powder feeders allow gradient materials to be made — every layer can have a different physical and chemical property. This enables new materials to be made and analyzed with extraordinary speed
  • This system offers a rapid set-up, a complete argon atmosphere control to reach highest quality, rapid solidification rates (> 1000°C)
