Specifications

Major Functions / Key Features

  • OPTIMUS T2 is a laser-assisted machining device that leverages the deterministic nature and flexibility of an existing diamond-turning machine, transforming it into a platform that can fabricate complex optical surfaces with difficult-to-cut materials.
  • By installing this equipment to diamond turning machines, the target machining materials can be extended largely which include infra materials, glass materials, tungsten carbide, silicon, barium fluoride, zinc sulfide, zinc selenide, germanium, fused silica, BK7, Zerodur, Ohara SNP-H optical glass, SS304, STAVAX, M333 stainless steel, etc.
  • Applying specially designed cutting tools, sub-surface damage of the machined workpiece can be minimized due to the laser-assisted cutting mechanism. Diffractive lens,  aspheric and freeform optical surfaces, space optics, mould inserts in difficult-to-cut material can be achieved with a form accuracy in sub-micrometers and a surface roughness in nanometers.
