Major Functions / Key Features

  • Support typical training on use of marine navigation systems of modern navigation bridge.                                       
  • Facilitate at most 24 trainees in a classroom to control 8 desktop trainee stations concurrently for simulation of multiple virtual ships sailing in a simulated maritime environment with the training purpose of collision avoidance.
  • Each trainee station is equipped with single visualization channel to display the simulated surrounding environment around a virtual ship, radar display and ECDIS for basic operational training.
  • Support integration with the “Transas” Trainee Station of CD403 to facilitate training with concurrent operation of 9 virtual ships for up to 27-28 trainees if necessary.

Restriction

  • Interested parties need to approach  Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies (LMS) to inquire about use and booking of the Simulator.                                             
  • Access to the Simulator will require approval/endorsement from the Department.
  • Depending on the nature of use, laboratory safety induction may be required.                                       
  • Users must follow the instructions of LMS responsible staff in using the Simulator.                                                           
  • Please approach LMS contact person for further information.

Fee

  • Free of charge for LMS Capstone Project and UG teaching and learning purposes only.                   
  • Non-LMS requests of private training lessons will be referred to the LMS instructors of the Department for their considerations.           
  • Non-LMS usage is subjected to charges     
  • Please contact LMS with potential requests for further discussion.
