Study recruitment - A randomised, double-blind, Sham-controlled clinical trial of Transcranial Pulse Stimulation for the treatment of major depression
研究背景
抑鬱症是常見的情緒病。患者多數在生活上面對極大精神壓力，患者若能及早接受治療，不但有助穩定病情，亦能減輕照顧者負擔。本研究旨在利用 TPS 的新型腦刺激是否能有效減輕重度抑鬱症患者的病徵。 近年研究顯示脈衝神經刺激治療 (TPS) 可改善抑鬱的情況，TPS是一種非侵入性大腦刺激治療。故此，我們藉著探討神經刺激治療對抑鬱症之成效。
Major depression is a common mental disorder. If patients receive treatment early, it will not only help stabilize their condition, but also reduce the burden on their caregivers. This study aims to investigate whether a new form of brain stimulation called transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS) is an effective treatment for major depression. Recent studies have shown improvement in depression with TPS which is a non-invasive brain stimulation treatment. Therefore, we explored the effect of neurostimulation on depression.
研究過程 Study procedure
合資格的參加者於治療開始及結束後一星期各進行1次磁力共振掃描。TPS治療療程為期六星期（每星期3次），於療程的第二，第四及第六個星期，研究人員將會為你進行訪談，透過評估目的更深入的瞭解您的認知狀況，從而得到更詳細的資料，幫助研究人員了解治療效果。每次治療所需時間為40分鐘。
The study consists of total 2 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sessions at the beginning and at the end of the treatment (at week 6) respectively, six weeks of TPS treatment (three treatment sessions per week), and administer psychiatric assessments in treatment week 2, week 4 and week 6.

只要您年齡介乎18歲至60歲，正在進行初期抑鬱藥物治療（多於四星期），我們都非常歡迎您報名參加是次研究，為我們貢獻臨床數據。
*若您曾被診斷腦神經疾病，則無法參與此研究。
You are welcome to participante the study, if you are aged between 18 to 60 years old, clinically diagnosed Major depression disorder, and ongoing depression medication (more than 4 weeks).
*You are not eligible to join if you have been diagnosed with any neurological disease.
在收到您的申請後，我們將於收到申請後的兩個月內聯絡您，研究團隊先會進行初步篩查。如以確保參加者符合本研究要求。如申請者符合本研究的要求，我們將會確認首次評估的時間和地點。
We will contact you within 2 months after received your application and our research team will conduct a screening session with you. If you are eligible to participate after the screening, we will schedule the time and date for the first assessment session.
