Orientation Info Day 2024

PolyU welcomed new students with its annual Orientation Info Day on 29 August 2024, themed “Navigate Your Future.” About 1,900 freshmen attended the President’s Welcome address by Prof. Jin-Guang Teng at the Jockey Club Auditorium, and watched the live stream at various venues on campus. Prof. Teng emphasised the University’s commitment to providing a world-class education, impactful research opportunities, and a vibrant campus life.

The ceremony featured an inspiring sharing session by Dr Cai Jin, recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Young Alumni Award in Professional Achievement of the PolyU Faculty of Business and Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sing Tao News Corporation Limited, who reflected on his academic journey at PolyU. Current students also shared their campus experiences, followed by vibrant performances from the PolyU Orchestra, PolyU Choir, and a student dance performance, which added a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere to the day.

The Orientation Showcase at the Shaw Sports Complex offered freshmen a glimpse into PolyU’s diverse co-curricular activities and support services. With around 60 booths hosted by academic departments and student societies, new students had the opportunity to engage with staff and senior students, explore development programs, and discover avenues for personal and professional growth. Prof. Teng showed his support by visiting the Showcase, encouraging students to make the most of their university experience.
