Research Directions

Carbon neutrality is a global target and Hong Kong aims to achieve it before 2050. PReCIT will work closely with different stakeholders and the government to look into policy same issues related to carbon neutrality cities as well as the impact to other domains, and to propose practical strategies for implementation. PolyU is particularly strong in green technologies and research in various sustainability topics. We will act as a bridge to connect our researches with policies so as to bring impact to Hong Kong and the nearby regions.

In accordance with national and local policy priorities, Hong Kong aims to become a world-class ‘Smart’ city, characterized by a strong economy and high quality of living, through strategic development of I&T. The PReCIT will support this vision by conducting rigorous research on data governance policies. Also, it will contribute to digital literacy curriculum development and public education. Finally, it will perform systematic research on I&T development in the GBA.

The Belt and Road Initiative (B&R) is an important national development strategy that promotes cooperation among various countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe. The PReCIT aims to assist Hong Kong maintain a strong role in the Southeast Asian region of this global project. It will perform research and contribute to projects that strengthen B&R cooperation in I&T development, protecting communication network infrastructures, and delivering specialist training for regional professionals.
