Winners of SOLIDWORKS Design Contest 2024 Award

Organized by Intelligent CAD/CAM Technology Ltd (ICT), co-organized by RCATech, IC and U3DP, RCATech supported the three winning teams of "Design for People In Need" Contest financially to produce presentable physical prototypes so as to realize their design concepts. Apart from provision of engineering equipment and facilities, Industrial Centre (IC) and University Research Facilities in 3D Printing (U3DP) enhanced the SOLIDWORKS design skills through training offered by ICT. Mentorship, technical support and project base were provided to students to fine-tune their design. The collective efforts continue in PolyU Innovation & Entrepreneurship ecosystem, as the winning teams will be assisted to join the upcoming Micro Fund Competition of PolyU Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office,  as well as external Innovation and Entrepreneurship competitions. Dr Cynthia Lai has obtained a donation funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust with details below. Project Title: Enhancing Equitable Opportunities of Students in Special Schools through Assistive Technology PI: Dr Cynthia Lai (RS) Co-PI: Prof. Kenneth Fong (RS), Prof. Jing Cai (HTI) Co-I: Prof. Michael Ying (HTI), Prof. Allen Chong (SO), Dr Jeffery Leung (SO), Prof. Shamay NG (RS), Dr Peter Ng (RS & COMP), Dr Raymond Chung (RS), Dr Janet Ng (CBS), Dr Yan Li (SN), and Dr Portia Wong (APSS) Amount: HK$9.88million This is a well demonstration of collaborative research with multi-disciplinary expertise.
