Biography
Dr. Ying Ji received her BSc (2009) and MSc (2012) in polymer science and engineering from Zhejiang University. She obtained her PhD degree in fiber science (2016) from Cornell University. Prior to joining PolyU, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at California Nanosystem Institute, University of California, Los Angeles. Dr Ji's research interests include developing biodegradable polymeric materials and functional materials for biomedical applications, which involves the structural design, synthesis and quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR)-guided optimization of polymer candidates, followed by in vitro and in vivo characterizations. Dr. Ji has extensive research experience in developing biodegradable pseudo-proteins including amino acid-based poly (ester amide)s, polyurethane, and complex polymeric materials with polysaccharides. Her research projects include the development of personalized wound dressing and various biomedical textile products with customized designs adapted to the diagnosis analysis and patient-specific requirements to improve clinical outcomes. In addition to biomedical polymeric materials, Dr. Ji is working on biodegradable and bio-sourced polymeric materials for sustainable manufacturing, processing and green applications.
