PolyU Team Video "Young People Talks About National Security" Wins Second Prize Nationwide
In the "National Security in My Eyes" Video Contest, organised by Beijing Normal University in March, the video "Young People Talks About National Security", produced by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU CSSA), won second prize, being the only award-winning entry from a higher education institution in Hong Kong and Macau. PolyU also received the "Excellent Organisation Award" from the organising committee.
PolyU students from various faculties and schools expressed their profound understanding and firm commitment to national security in the award-winning video. The video showcases the responsibility and dedication of PolyU's young generation in not just acquiring knowledge but also actively safeguarding national security through action.
"Young People Talks About National Security" was the creation of PolyU CSSA members, including Zhao Shenghan from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences; Li Changchun from the Faculty of Engineering; Li Qianru from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences; Lu Kang from the Faculty of Science; Sui Qinxin from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management; Wang Kunyuan from the Faculty of Humanities; Luo Xiaoyu from the Faculty of Engineering; and Zhang Qian from the Faculty of Construction and Environment, who are all PolyU graduates; as well as current PolyU students including Li Yunjia, Lu Keyi, Tang Xiao, Wang Yi and Zhang Mengshi.
"In this contest, every member of our team performed their duties to the best of their abilities, from a clear division of labour to conscientious execution. Despite the pressure of our final exams, we delivered above and beyond. Through this process, we learned a lot. It was our unity and teamwork that led to us earning this recognition," Zhao Shenghan said.
PolyU has always emphasised its holistic education that instils a strong sense of national identity in students. All undergraduate and postgraduate students are required to take a tailor-made National Security Law Education programme covering modern Chinese History, the Constitution, Hong Kong Basic Law and the Hong Kong National Security Law. This recognition testifies to the efforts of PolyU students in actively safeguarding national security.
