Vision

To be the leading research institute in intelligent wearable systems via an impactful interdisciplinary research programme, global academic and industrial collaboration, knowledge and technology transfer and human resource enhancement.

Mission

To conduct impactful research in IWEAR that leads to advancement of scientific knowledge and successful technological developments of high-performance and cost-effective fibrous materials, flexible electronic devices, intelligent wearable systems, scalable processes for device fabrication and system integration and accredited evaluation methods;
To develop innovative IWEAR products that improve health and safety and enhance communication, well-being, connectivity and quality of life by collaboration with various sectors and industries;
To promote the transfer of IWEAR technology to industry and the development of new knowledge-based industries in Hong Kong and beyond;
To provide the technological infrastructure and workforce training for the wearable electronics industry and beyond via the RI-IWEAR platform.
