Keynote Speaker
Dr JoonOh SEO
Associate Professor, Department of Building and Real Estate, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Dr. JoonOh SEO is an associate professor in the Department of Building and Real Estate, PolyU. He obtained his PhD degree in Civil Engineering (construction management programme) from the University of Michigan in the United States. His research focuses on understanding the relationship between construction workers’ demands and their impact on construction operations. In his studies, various computing and IT approaches—including vision-based motion capture, machine learning-based action recognition, and computer simulation such as discrete event simulation and system dynamics—have been applied and implemented. In particular, he is interested in total scene understanding and wearable sensing, aiming to enhance construction workers’ performances such as safety, health, and productivity. Also, he is currently working on Augmented and Immersive Virtual Reality (AR/IVR) for enhancing construction workers’ safety behavior.
Dr Yantao YU
Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Dr. Yantao YU is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She won the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship in 2017, and received her doctoral degree in construction informatics from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2020. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in construction management from Tsinghua University in 2014 and 2017, respectively. Before joining HKUST in 2021, she was a research assistant professor at PolyU. Her research interests are smart construction technologies, construction robotics, and occupational safety and health.
