Prof. WONG Ka-hing shares novel food waste-derived 3D printing materials on RTHK TV programme

Prof. WONG Ka-hing, Director of the Research Institute for Future Food (RiFood) and Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, was featured on RTHK’s TV programme “Hong Kong United” to introduce the novel food waste-derived 3D printing materials developed by his team. The materials are made from the upcycling of spent coffee grounds and tea leaves, combined with polylactic acid (PLA). The novel printing materials can be used in Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), a commonly used 3D printing method, for the production of modular furniture and display goods.
