Summary
The International Symposium of Soft Ground and Smart Geotechnology held online on 7 January 2022 and it was jointly organized by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and the Research Institute for Land and Space (RILS), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Prof. Jian-hua YIN, management committee member of RILS, and Dr Zhen-yu YIN, member of RILS, served as the Chairs of the Organizing Committee to host the one day Symposium.
The purpose of the Symposium was to provide a forum for sharing the latest developments in theories, methods, and smart geotechnology for solving soft ground problems and other types of geotechnical issues. Prominent scholars and experts were invited to give keynote speeches sharing their latest achievements in theories and methods, soft ground improvement technologies, smart geotechnology, applications, as well as ideas on specific challenges.
