France – PolyU Innovation and Technology Lecture Series | Discrete modeling strategies for aeronautic composite structures: from failure scenario to certification

Summary

During the lecture, Professor Bruno CASTANIÉ as the Head of the research team on Composite Structures of Institute Clément Ader located in Toulouse, shared some very efficient modeling strategies based on refined phenomenological analysis of failure in composite structures developed by the composite group of CNRS ICA, from presenting the failure scenario to the successful application to in-plane issues like open hole tension, scaling effects and large notches.

The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) is a public organization under the responsibility of the French Ministry of Education and Research. It is the largest fundamental research organization in Europe with annual budget of 3,309 Million Euro.
ICA is a CNRS laboratory that focuses on the study of structures, systems and mechanical processes, including aeronautics, space, transportation and energy.
