From 24 Sep to 2 Oct, PolyU joins InnoTech Expo 2017 held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre to showcase how its impactful research with advanced technology is transferred to meet the society's needs.

 

At PolyU’s booth, the Research and Innovation Office would introduce the innovative "Smart Scar-Care" pad which serves the dual functions of reinforcing pressure and occlusion which has been designed by Professor Cecilia Li-Tsang in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of PolyU, to treat hypertrophic scars from burns, surgeries and trauma. Compared with the traditional pressure pads and silicone gel sheets, "Smart Scar-Care" pad has the advantages of both. This innovative design has won the Grand Award and Gold Medal with the Congratulations of Jury at the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, 2017 (Geneva Expo).

Another two awarded technology of PolyU would be highlighted in the seminars. They include,
1. 28 Sep, 11am - “An Innovative Tank-Top with Biofeedback System for Adolescents with Early Scoliosis” by Dr Joanne YIP, Institute of Textiles and Clothing of PolyU. This research is awarded
“Gold Medal with the Congratulations of Jury” of Geneva Expo and “Special Merit Award” of Romanian Association for Nonconventional Technologies.

2. 28 Sep, 12nn – “Self-cleaning Highly Aqueous Dispersed Heat Insulation Functional Coating for Glass” by Dr Lin LU, Department of Building Services Engineering. The research has won the Global Innovation Awards at the TechConnect World Conference and Expo.
