Invited by ITDO, the Chairman of the The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Governing Board, Professor Peter Olesen visited PolyU from 10 -12 Jan 2018 to explore the possibility in conducting translational research across various disciplines with PolyU and foster international partnerships to in maximizing synergies in innovation and technology.

Prof. Olesen was invited to give a lecture titled "The European Institute of Innovation and Technology, EIT - Europe’s Innovation Ecosystem" to share the overall strategies of EIT and how 'Knowledge and Innovation Communities' (KICs) bring together excellent higher education institutions, research centres and businesses to address major societal challenges such as food safety and climate change in an innovative way.

PolyU’s Vice President (Research Development) Ir. Prof. Alex Wai, Associate Vice President (Undergraduate Programme) Prof. Daniel Shek, Dean of Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles Prof. Wing-tak Wong, Director of Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development Prof. Jin-guang Teng, Head of Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Ir. Prof. Keith Chan, Director of Innovation and Technology Development Dr. Terence Lau and Assistant Director of Innovation and Technology Development Ms. Karen Jiang participated in n exchange meetings to share the University’s accomplishment in R&D, on-going private and public partnerships and innovative projects with substantive impacts.

A tour visit to the University Research Facility in 3D Printing, Fibre Composites Workshop, Digital Manufacturing Workshop, Aviation Services Research Centre (ASRC), Research Facility in Life Sciences, Food Safety, Health and Social Sciences was also arranged to showcase our latest R&D in various fields and to stimulate the development of new technology-based industries.
