Summary
The webinar “HKSTP Thought-leadership Series: Pioneering Vision Research for Preventing and Reversing Visual Impairment”, hosted by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), University of Waterloo (Waterloo) and Centre for Eye and Vision Research (CEVR), was successfully held on 26 March 2021.
Mr Oscar Wong, Head of Business Development of HKSTP, kicked off the webinar by giving a welcoming remarks. Prof Bob Lemieux, Dean of Science of Waterloo, and Prof David Shum, Dean of Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of PolyU followed to give the opening remarks. Afterwards, leading scientists from the CEVR research team, Prof Benjamin Thompson and Prof Chi-ho To, shared their new advances in research that hold promise for the prevention or treatment of common eye and vision disorders including myopia and amblyopia (“lazy eye”), offering hope to the vision impaired patients all over the world. The webinar attracted nearly 150 participants and had fruitful discussion during the event.
