World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW), organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), is an annual observance that highlights the steps everyone can take to improve antibiotic use. It aims to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to encourage best practices amongst the general public, health workers, and policy makers to avoid further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

The theme for Antimicrobial Awareness Week in 2020 is 'United to preserve antimicrobials', aiming to engage stakeholders from all sectors in a One Health approach to antimicrobial resistance and the slogan this year is "Antimicrobials: Handle with care".

As Codex Observer, FSC is pleased to join global community to raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance.
