Summary
The Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Research Institute for Smart Energy (RISE) is established in May 2020, as a cross-disciplinary research platform in PolyU, to bring the experts, with very diverse expertise, ranging from energy and power systems, smart buildings, energy storage, IT to material science distributed in over 10 academic departments, together to develop innovative technologies and carbon-neutral solutions.

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Prof Dong is Singapore Power Group Endowed Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He also served as SHARP professor and Inaugural Director of UNSW Digital Grid Futures Institute at the University of New South Wales, and the founding Director of Australian Research Council Research Hub for Integrated Energy Storage Solutions. He also worked as Ausgrid Chair Professor and Director of the Ausgrid Centre for Intelligent Electricity Networks providing R&D support for the AUD500m Smart Grid, Smart City national demonstration project of Australia. In addition to academia, he also worked as manager for system planning with a state transmission network service provider in Australia. His research interests include power system planning and stability, smart grid and smart cities, renewable energy systems, electricity market, and computational methods for power engineering applications. He has served/is serving as an editor fora number of IEEE Transactions and IET journals. He is an international scientific advisory board member of the African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD), and Fellow of IEEE.
