Summary
The Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Research Institute for Smart Energy (RISE) is established in May 2020, as a cross-disciplinary research platform in PolyU, to bring the experts, with very diverse expertise, ranging from energy and power systems, smart buildings, energy storage, IT to material science distributed in over 10 academic departments, together to develop innovative technologies and carbon-neutral solutions.

Professor Ruzhu WANG

WANG Ruzhu (R. Z. Wang), born in Dec.1964, chair professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Director, MOE Engineering Research Center of Solar Energy.
Prof. Wang has published 12 Books and over 700 co-authored international journal papers and more than 150 patents, his ISI H-index is 85 with a citation over 30,000. He is a well-known leading scientist in heat pumps, solar heating and cooling, green building energy systems, and energy-water-air nexus.
His achievements have won Chinese National Research Awards in 2010 and 2014 respectively, and received Six prestigious international academic awards including the J & E Hall International Gold Medal from the Institute of Refrigeration (UK), the Nukiyama Memorial Award from the Japanese Society of Heat Transfer, the IIR-Gustav Lorentzen Medal from the International Institute of Refrigeration and the Peter Ritter von Rittinger International Heat Pump Award from the International Energy Agency.
Prof. Wang is currently the Deputy editor-in-chief of Energy, Regional editor-International Journal of Refrigeration.
