Summary
The Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Research Institute for Smart Energy (RISE) is established in May 2020, as a cross-disciplinary research platform in PolyU, to bring the experts, with very diverse expertise, ranging from energy and power systems, smart buildings, energy storage, IT to material science distributed in over 10 academic departments, together to develop innovative technologies and carbon-neutral solutions.

Professor Dejan Mumovic
Professor of Building Performance Analysis, MEng MSc PhD CEng FCIBSE FIBPSA
Director of the Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE), University College London (UCL), UK
Dejan is a building scientist with a background in heating, ventilation and air conditioning engineering and the extensive experience of monitoring and modelling work in the field of the built environment. In the last 20 years Dejan has led, co-led or significantly contributed to 60 research projects, and co-authored over 250 peer reviewed publications including CIBSE TM 61-64 Series of Technical Memoranda on Operational Performance of Buildings published by CIBSE in 2020. Dejan is also editor and co-author of "A Handbook of Sustainable Building Design and Engineering: An Integrated Approach to Energy, Health and Operational Performance". The second edition of this popular book was published by Routledge in 2018. In 2022, he co-edited a special issue of the Buildings & Cities "Alternatives to air-conditioning: policies, design, technologies, behaviours".
