Summary

Very Large Floating Structures (VLFSs) experienced significant vertical vibrations from environmental loads. Prof. BI introduced a Vertical Tuned Liquid Column Damper (VTLCD) to mitigate these motions, enhancing stability and comfort. Installed inside the structure, the VTLCD avoided maintenance issues and used U-shaped water-filled containers for vertical control. Tests showed that the VTLCD effectively reduced vertical oscillations, even in extreme conditions.
