Biography
Howard moved back from Canada to complete his undergraduate studies in Physiotherapy at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and subsequently received his Master of Science degree in Sports Medicine and Health Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong along and attained his Diploma in Acupuncture for Physiotherapists from Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association. While he was an Operations Manager at a private sports training and Physiotherapy centre, he attended many sports conferences at prestigious institutes such as MIT and Stanford University, which further broadened his perspective as a clinician. He continued to expand his knowledge in the industry and acquired his Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification from the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
Howard’s passion in sports has landed him various opportunities in working with elite athletes and professional teams in the areas of basketball, football, cricket, tennis, golf and athletics. He was appointed as the Team Physiotherapist for the 2017 ASEAN Basketball League Champion and Hong Kong Men’s Cricket National Team, where he had opportunities to travel around Asia Pacific with these teams to compete at an international level. At present, he is actively involved with working as a Physiotherapist for a Hong Kong professional basketball team and Hong Kong Premier League football team.
In addition to providing Physiotherapy to athletes and sports teams, Howard has consistently applied injury surveillance system and workload model to monitor the health status of these athletes. He is keen to explore these measures with research methodology for any potentials to improve on injury prevention, rehabilitation and enhance sports performance.
