A Study on the Formation of MaoKun’s “QingZhiLun” (「文以載道」抑或「發憤抒情」?──茅坤「情至論」的建構過程及其內涵析論). The 6th Young Scholars International Conference. Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong. 27 October 2021.
Abstract
“QingZhiLun” is the core of Mao Kun's literary thought, and its connotation is rich, involving the relationship between "emotion", "temperament", "learning" and the creation of ancient prose. Although Mao Kun claimed to be " QingZhiLun " was inspired by Tang(唐順之)'s "Nature theory"(本色論), the content was quite different. After Mao Kun was relegated, he knew that he was hopeless and hoped that he would use literature for future generations. This makes the " QingZhiLun " have a strong " the Determined Lyrics" (發憤抒情)color, which is obviously different from the " Nature theory" which emphasizes the requirements of moral cultivation. The proposal of " Nature theory " not only changed the "Tangsong School"'s essays from focusing on "Dao" (道)to "wen"(文), but also theoretically resolved the dispute between the "Tangsong School" and the "Classical School".
