Loyalism and Canonization of Yue Fei’s “Manjianghong” in Ming Dynasty (忠義化與明代「岳飛《滿江紅》」的經典化). Hong Kong Young Scholars’ Forum in Studies of Early Modern Literature and History. School of Arts and Social Sciences, The Open University of Hong Kong & Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Hong Kong. 28 August 2021.
Abstract
Yue Fei’s position in the history of ci-poetry is largely based on the "Man Jiang Hong", which “reappears” in the Ming Dynasty. The canonization of "Man Jiang Hong" is closely related to Yue Fei's loyalism in the Ming Dynasty. The imperial court responded to the need to promote loyalty in response to the current situation. There were also scholars who expressed appreciation for Yue Fei, as well as different voices. Finally, the literati's repeated pursuit and interpretation in the Ming Dynasty eventually contributed to the canonization of Yue Fei's "Man Jiang Hong".
