Distinguished Lectures in Humanities

Events

Two intellectually inspiring Distinguished Lectures in Humanities (DLH) were successfully held during the first half of 2023:

  • “Preferred Colors in Diverse Cultures as Evidenced in their Lexical Frequency and More Topics for Comparison in the Cultural Circle of Chinese Character” by Prof. Sang Oak Lee (Professor Emeritus, Department of Korean, College of Humanities, Seoul National University)
  • “Language Learning in Humans and Machines: Two Sides of the Same Coin” by Prof. Chen Yu, Charles and Sarah Seay Regents Professor, Department of Psychology, Central of Perceptual Systems, and Institute of Neural Science, the University of Texas at Austin

The DLH Series is an interdisciplinary forum for eminent scholars to visit the Faculty and deliver a distinguished lecture at PolyU. The lectures showcased world-class innovative ideas in humanities, social science, science and technology, and served as catalysts for potential joint collaborations between the speaker’s group and FH members or among PolyU members.
