黄宇乐博士是一位临床科学家。他先在香港大学考取理学士学位(主修生物),再于香港理工大学取得一级荣誉物理治疗理学士学位。在伊利沙伯医院任职物理治疗师多年后,他决定从事学术研究。为了达成这个目标,黄博士先在香港大学完成他的矫形及创伤外科硕士课程;继而在加拿大阿伯特大学修毕他的博士学位。
黄博士的研究兴趣集中于寻找导致脊骨痛症以及令情况持续的原因。鉴于导致脊骨痛症的原因有很多,故黄博士采用多种的策略,务求对各种导致脊骨疼痛的成因进行量化研究, 以便 搜寻各成因的相对重要性。这些研究结果,对研究人员及临床医生在理解及治疗脊骨痛症上皆有帮助。
黄博士从香港、加拿大及美国的不同学术组织机构,获得多项学术奖项,例如加拿大健康研究所(Canadian Institutes of Health Research)、金钥匙国际荣誉学会(Golden Key International Honours Society)以及国际痛症研究协会等。同时,他的研究成果已于多份着名国际期刊内刊登。
