Four years ago, I told myself that I had to work very hard and became a person to make my parents proud of me. This determination has changed my life. My stepfather told me that "The future you must give thanks to the present hard-working one." It became the power to push me to be better. The persevering effort and determination make my dream come true. I know the path that I hope to take. Through participating in different design campaigns, I gained a lot of experience and building confidence in the design field.

As a designer, I realised that it is necessary to broaden the horizons of daily life. I believe these experiences could become part of my design. From time to time, I took part in exhibitions and created design works to support the community. I made an interactive, experiential book design that recorded the traditional performance in Beijing after the study trip. Also, I designed a horse racing newspaper that broke the rules and redesigned the newspaper with another design expression method. Through my design and creativity, I hope I can make a better human life and living. People can also make reflections or even gain knowledge from the design.

However, I realised that having significant efforts in design may not be enough to be a successful designer since I participated in the WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition. Sometimes the design may not inspire people easily. Keep learning and gaining experience through these processes are important to strengthen my design profile. As for gaining practical design experiences, I worked as a graphics and UX / UI design internship in the last two summers. The design project assisted people to connect with their hospital appointment conveniently and provided a platform for improving their self-cultivation through the App design. It undoubtedly fulfilled my design expectation for making better human life.

Learning the knowledge and critical thinking skills at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University helped me to develop a better mindset, from the inner attitude to the power to face the challenges in the forthcoming future.

I believe the Design Practices programme will create new challenges in enriching my design profile. It will provide the knowledge and exposure that I need and prepare me to develop my confidence in the design profession. With my motivation and recognition of design profile, together with various external design experience, I believe that I have the qualification and high potential to be successful in studying this Master degree at PolyU. Through the recognition of this fellowship programme, it will facilitate my achievement in long-term goals and expectations through learning new knowledge and gaining multidisciplinary nature of design experiences. Besides, it definitely provides a chance to broaden my horizons and make me more determined to contribute through my design and creativity to enhance human life and living in the future.
