Topic: The Future of Work
Project Type: Demonstration Project
One of the biggest legacies of COVID-19 is that remote work is here to stay. In
particular for knowledge workers, virtual meetings and instant messaging now
take the role of face-to-face meetings. While this offers great flexibility for the
remote workforce, it also comes with an important trade-off - the loss of "soft
work" - the coffee talks, hallway conversations and quick questions that spark
creative ideas and foster trust over time. Soft work is the casual relationship
building that takes place naturally in a physical workplace, but is extremely
difficult to achieve in a remote environment.
Pocket Office combines the serendipity of face-to-face interactions with the
flexibility of remote communication to help bring remote teams closer. It is a
gamified virtual environment for co-workers to chat and interact in real-time.
Envisioned as part of the "Work-from-Home caring pack", Pocket Office is
tailored to promote company culture and a sense of community through fun
and lightweight virtual interactions.
