This paper aims to find out how human cognition could affect immersion and what are the unique requirements to build the immersive experience. By reviewing the human cognition method to understand how humans receive information, we could learn how humans receive and organise content by language, sense perception, emotion, reason, imagination, faith, intuition, and memory. With the connectionism approach, the cognition journey framework would help the creator to establish and review their immersive experience design.
The article uses the cognitive journey framework to analyse six types of immersive experiences. The content explains how humans collect and connect insights in the brain. From the analysis, we could understand that providing the feeling of surrounding, persistence, a sense of presence, existence, and fulfilment could help the audience raise their immersion into a flow stage.
