CONFERENCES/SEMINARS/WORKSHOPS

Professor Kaye Chon attended the 2nd meeting of Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola's International Advisory Committee in conjunction with the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola International Colloquium in Lima, Peru on 23-27 October 2016.

Dr Denis Tolkach and Dr Markus Schuckert attended the International Conference on Emerging Tourism Destinations in Dili, Timor-Leste on 24-26 October 2016. Dr Tolkach presented a paper entitled "A Comparative Analysis of Tourism Development in Post-Crisis Asian Countries". Dr Schuckert presented a co-authored paper entitled "Meet the Locals: A Phenomenology of Experiencing Residents in North Korea".

Professor Hanqin Qiu attended the 17th Cross-Strait Forum on Continuing Education in Shanghai, China on 3-4 November 2016.

Dr Barry Mak spoke on "One-Belt, One-Road: Challenges and Opportunities for the Corporate Travel Industry" at the Association of Corporate Travel Executives 2016 Asia Regional Education Forums in Hong Kong on 9 November 2016.

Professor Kaye Chon gave a lecture on "Managing Quality Service in the Hotel Industry" at the Westin Chosun Seoul in Korea on 17 November 2016.

Professor Chon signed an MoU with Yonsei University for student exchange and academic collaboration on 17 November 2016. Founded in 1855 by American Christian missionaries, Yonsei University is one of the leading universities in Korea. The University offers hotel management and foodservice management programme through their College of Human Ecology.

Professor Chon was invited to be a speaker on "The China Factor: Opportunities and Issues" at the Pandox Hotel Market Day 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden on 22 November.

Dr Mimi Li attended the Travel & Tourism Research Association Asia Pacific Chapter 4th Annual Conference in Dubai on 2-4 December 2016.

Dr Mehmet Koseoglu presented two co-authored papers entitled "Intellectual Structure of Internationalization Research with China Focus: A Co-Citation Analysis" and "Boundary Conditions for Trust among Exporters and Importers: Evidence from Importers Who Import from China" at the Strategic Management Society Special Conference in Hong Kong on 10-12 December 2016.

Dr Wilco Chan delivered a keynote on "Sustainable Design Strategy for Parks and Resorts: Edutainment Orientation" at the 4th Annual International Conference on Tourism and Hospitality Research in Singapore on 12-13 December 2016.
