On 3 September 2018, the SHTM and China Outbound Tourism Research Institute Ltd. (COTRI) signed an MOU to promote collaboration on tourism education and research.
COTRI is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany and provides support for the strategic and sustainable development of several segments of the Chinese outbound market. Established in 2004, it offers organisations and institutions customised services in research and consulting,
quantitative and qualitative data and analysis, training and certification.
The MOU was signed by Professor Kaye Chon, SHTM Dean and Chair Professor and Walter Kwok Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management, and Professor Dr Wolfgang Georg Arlt, Director of COTRI, on the SHTM campus.
Under the five-year agreement, both parties will pursue strategic collaboration to promote online executive education. They will participate jointly in nationally and
internationally funded projects and jointly organise international conferences and research. The collaboration between the two institutions will focus on Chinese outbound tourism and on international tourism development.
The SHTM sees this as an innovative international collaboration. In the years ahead, both parties will make greater contributions to the development of China's tourism and the entire global industry.
