The SHTM has combined its expertise with that of the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI), an outstanding research institute focusing on Chinese outbound tourism, to provide a comprehensive online training programme, China Tourism Training (CTT), for hospitality and tourism professionals worldwide working with the Chinese outbound tourism market.
In 2019, about 6.3 million Chinese chose to travel to destinations outside mainland China. Despite the growing number of trips across the border, the Chinese outbound tourism market is becoming more and more fragmented, and tourism service providers require specific advice on and insights into their target market segments. The CTT programme jointly offered by the SHTM and COTRI will provide hospitality professionals worldwide with practical information on the Chinese outbound tourism market under five branch tracks: Hospitality, Destinations, Retail, Attractions and Transportation.
This exceptional online programme welcomes professionals at all levels, from beginners to seasoned industry practitioners, and anyone else who is interested in the sustainable development of the Chinese outbound tourism market.
The maximum time allowed for the completion of each branch track is 3 months. Upon their successful completion of each track, participants
receive a verified academic certificate issued by the SHTM and COTRI.
The SHTM and COTRI are longstanding partners in hospitality and tourism education and research. Their latest venture, the CTT online programme, provides an innovative platform for hospitality and tourism service providers to benefit from advanced and specialised training and an educational programme with a global perspective. Capitalising on the diverse talents of the School's international faculty, the SHTM is
confident that its partnership with COTRI will contribute to the development of Chinese tourism and the entire global industry in the years to come.
