CONFERENCES/SEMINARS/WORKSHOPS
STR and APacCHRIE jointly presented a special webinar entitled "COVID-19 Impact on the Global Hotel Industry", which was conducted by Mr Steve Hood of the STR SHARE Center on 24 April 2020. A brainstorming session related to research opportunities was led by SHTM Associate Professor and APaCHRIE Past President Dr Qu Xiao. The recording can be found here: https://youtu.be/yltg3rg-I7s.
Professor Kaye Chon of the SHTM and Mr Steve Hood of STR hosted a webinar "Global Hospitality Industry: Challenges and Opportunities" on 30 May 2020. The webinar offered an update on the global hotel industry that drilled down into specific areas, including China. The recording can be found here: https://youtu.be/9kZ_hHBRKeI.
Dr Dan Wang together with Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization and Mr Vinicius Lummetz, Secretary of Tourism in São Paulo, participated in the TV Broadcast SP Pra Todos organised by São Paulo State Secretariat of Tourism on 2 June 2020. Dr Wang discussed smart destination and technology applications, detailing the effective use of such methods in the recovery and growth of the tourism sector.
Dr Tony Tse participated in an online panel session on the topic "How will the New Normal Business Travel Look Like?" at the Connexus Travel Webinar on 17 June 2020.
Conducted by Mr Steve Hood of the STR SHARE Center and moderated by Dr Qu Xiao of the SHTM (APacCHRIE Past President), the second in a series of updates on the impact of COVID-19 on hotel performance was presented jointly by STR and APacCHRIE on 19 June 2020. The webinar covered the impact of the coronavirus on countries and markets around the globe, including specific areas such as China, the rest of Asia, Europe and the Americas.The recording can be found here: https://youtu.be/zWuH0AHKGvg.
Professor Haiyan Song spoke on the topic "Asia Pacific Tourism Forecasts Amid COVID-19" at the Online Tourism Tribune Forum on 20 June 2020.

He also participated in an online panel discussion on the "Impact of the Epidemic upon Tourism Industry and Future Collaboration Opportunities" at an event entitled "Beautiful Anhui in the Sea of Art", organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Anhui Province on 30 June 2020.
Professor Brian King was invited to be the moderator for the Hong Kong Tourism Board Global Online Forum "Beyond COVID-19: Global Tourism's New Normal" on 24 June 2020.

He also presented an online keynote entitled "Leading Tourism through an Era of Disruption: Time for Regeneration in Asia" at the 2nd TOURIST International Conference hosted by the Faculty of Business Administration, Kasetsart University in Bangkok on 20-21 July 2020.
Dr Dan Wang delivered a course on "Innovation and Technology Management in Tourism and Hospitality" as part of the University Alliance of the Silk Road Online Summer Programme from 20-30 July 2020.
