CONFERENCES/SEMINARS/WORKSHOPS

The 14th UNWTO/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook was held in the hybrid format on 7-9 December 2020 in Guilin, China. Professor Kaye Chon delivered an online opening remarks and participated in an online panel discussion on the topic "Tourism Revitalisation and Transformation through Innovation, Sustainability and Responsibility". Dr Honggen Xiao moderated the keynote presentation.

Professor Haiyan Song shared his insights at the Researcher Academy Webinar "Why Am I Getting Desk Rejected?" on 4 November 2020.

Professor Song also spoke on the topic "Social Costs of Tourism amid COVID-19" at the online 2020 International Conference on Frontier Cross Management organised by Shandong University on 7-8 November.

Dr Deniz Kucukusta attended the online 2020 Global Wellness Summit on 8-11 November.

Professor Kaye Chon and Professor Haiyan Song attended the Third World Tourism Alliance Xianghu Dialogue hosted by Xiaoshan District People's Government on 11-14 November 2020. Professor Chon gave an online keynote speech entitled "Development and Innovation in Tourism Education in the New Normal". Professor Song participated in the panel discussion on the topic "Tourism Education in the Transformation Era: Its Mission and Purpose".

Professor Cathy Hsu delivered an online lecture entitled "An Editor's Observations during the Pandemic" organised by Anatolia Tourism Academy and Kadir Has University on 17 November 2020.

Professor Basak Denizci Gullet and Dr Daniel Leung shared their perceptions and experiences of "New Ways of Teaching and Research in Tourism Management Brought by COVID-19 Challenges" at a webinar organised by the University Alliance of the Silk Road Tourism Sub-Alliance on 20 November 2020.

Dr Sangwon Park participated in an online panel session on the topic "Big Data Analytics in Hospitality and Tourism" at the APacCHRIE Webinar on 25 November 2020.

Professor Brian King spoke on the topic "Leading Tourism through Disruption: Time for a Rethink in Asia?" at the 8th ITSA Biennial Hybrid Conference co-hosted and organized by Universitas Pancasila and James Cook University Singapore on 2 December 2020.

Professor Kaye Chon delivered an online keynote speech on the topic "Research and Impact in Tourism and Hospitality: A Journey to an Asian Paradigm" at the XVII Seminário Anptur 2020 organised by Brazilian National Association of Research and Postgraduate Studies in Tourism on 2-4 December.

Professor Brian King participated in an online panel session on the topic "Tourism Education in a Fragile World - A View from Hong Kong" at the Association for Tourism in Higher Education Virtual Conference on 3-4 December 2020.

Professor Jinsoo Lee and Dr Kam Hung moderated an online Mini Forum entitled "Post COVID 19 – The Outlook for the Hospitality and Tourism Industry" on 4 December 2020. After the mini forum, Professor Lee, Dr Qu Xiao, Dr Catherine Cheung, Dr Hung, Dr Crystal Shi and Dr Dan Wang conducted the Online Info Seminars for the Doctoral and Master's programmes.

Professor Brian King delivered an online lecture entitled "A Post-Pandemic Future for Tourism Scholarship? – Reflections on Academic Practice Across 3 Continents" at the Dr Abraham Pizam Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series hosted by Rosen College of Hospitality Management on 10 December 2020.

Dr Sangwon Park gave an online speech entitled "New Opportunity: Innovation and Digital Transformation" at the 14th UNWTO Asia/Pacific Executive Training Programme on Tourism Policy and Strategy on 15-17 December 2020.
