Professor Haiyan Song delivered a speech entitled "Scenario Planning for International Visitor Arrivals in Asia Pacific – 2021-2023" at the PATA Research Webinar on 19 January 2021.
The School hosted two information sessions at the Hospitality Graduate School Virtual Fair organised by Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, University of Houston on 4-5 February 2021.
The SHTM also participated in the first EHL Master's Day on 8 February 2021. At the event, Dr Kam Hung, Dr Crystal Shi and MSc graduates Ms Iuliia Povazhna, Ms Jacqui Shi and Ms Danting Cai delivered a workshop entitled "Info Seminar for MSc Scheme in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Sharing with Alumni" to potential students.
The SHTM's Food and Wine Academy organised an online workshop entitled "Sustainability in a Multiple Restaurant Setting" on 8 February 2021. During the workshop, Ms Heidi Yu Spurrell, CEO and founder of Food Made Good Hong Kong, shared her experiences with food service providers to help them operate more sustainably.
On 18 February 2021, the School co-hosted the PATA Youth Webinar "The Role of Smart Tourism & Smart Cities in Recovery and Development".
The School participated in the Graduate Program Information Session at the 2021 West Federation CHRIE Virtual Conference on 18-20 February. Professor Kaye Chon also participated in the Academic Career Fair.
Dr Qu Xiao moderated an APacCHRIE webinar, "Hotel Performance: Wrap Up 2020 and Outlook for 2021", organised by Asia-Pacific CHRIE on 26 February 2021.
Professor Haiyan Song gave a speech entitled "Forecasting Tourism and Hospitality Research in the Asia Pacific" at the first International Tourism and Hospitality Annual Research Convention cum International Annual Tourism and Hospitality Student Research Conference, delivered online on 26-27 February 2021.
On 8 March 2021, the SHTM's Food and Wine Academy organised an "Alaska Seafood Cooking Demonstration" online workshop. Chef Heinz Fischer demonstrated how to prepare three dishes using Alaskan seafood.
Professor Brian King was invited to join the Ocean Park Tour on 11 March 2021 for a site walk, was updated on the Park’s new strategy, and previewed Asia’s first and only water park nestled on a waterfront.
Professor Kaye Chon and Professor Haiyan Song attended the online Tourism, Hospitality & Events Global Higher Education Leadership Summit 2021 on 19-20 March. Professor Chon participated in a panel session on the topic "Envisioning Tomorrow's T.H.E Landscape". Professor Song participated in a panel session on the topic "Cultivating Educational Leadership: T.H.E. PhD Education".
The School co-hosted the PATA Youth Webinar "VR Innovations in Tourism & Destination Marketing" on 25 March 2021.
