The SHTM and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together to promote the sustainable growth of global travel and tourism.
The WTTC represents the travel and tourism private sector globally. Its members consist of Chairs, Presidents and Chief Executives of the world's leading private sector travel and tourism businesses, who draw on their specialist knowledge to guide
government policy- and decision-making. The WTTC is the voice of the sector globally; it is committed to raising the awareness of governments and the public of the economic and social significance of the travel and tourism private sector.
The MOU between the WTTC and the SHTM is in keeping with the two parties' common interest in promoting the sustainable growth of the travel and tourism sector through information sharing and mutual collaboration. As a WTTC Knowledge Partner, the SHTM
will provide research data and insight services that will be used by the WTTC to produce joint research reports and to provide specific industry information for dissemination to the WTTC's wider membership. The two organisations will also work together to leverage their respective areas of expertise, produce insight reports and provide support for global and regional conferences and other events, such as the WTTC Global Summit.
The SHTM is delighted to have forged a closer partnership
with the WTTC. One of the School's most important functions is to feed research findings and other forms of expertise back to its principal base – the industry that it serves. The MOU has strengthened the SHTM's collaboration with the WTTC and reaffirmed the industry's support for the School.
