Three aspects – Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) – make up a set of standards used by companies and customers to measure a company's long-term impact on the environment and society. In the hospitality and tourism businesses, practitioners make choices that impact the environment, decide whether to support a local heritage cause or institutionalise community volunteer work and are responsible for investment decisions, compliance,
diversity, inclusion and transparency.
This executive development programme offers three modules:
1. Caring for the Environment
2. Creating a Positive Impact on Society
3. Upholding Good Governance
Each module focuses on one aspect of ESG; together they provide a complete picture of the concepts.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to articulate ESG concepts and relate them to the hospitality and tourism businesses. Participants will be
able to identify ESG data sources, analyse risks and opportunities, evaluate costs and benefits and recommend responsible actions for their companies.
Each module is four hours in duration, two hours (10:00-12:00) in the morning and two hours (14:00-16:00) in the afternoon. Participants should allow time in between for project work. The course will be offered in both in-person and online modes.
