SHKP Hotels x SHTM Hackathon Successfully Held

Hosted by the SHTM and Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) Limited, the SHKP Hotels x SHTM Hackathon was held on 24 February 2023 and was a great success. This unique event commenced with motivational speeches by Professor Kaye Chon, SHTM Dean, Chair Professor and Walter and Wendy Kwok Family Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management, and Mr Tasos Kousloglou, CEO of the Hotel Division, SHKP Limited.

Career Expo 2023

On 24 March, the SHTM hosted its 2023 Career Expo, which provided graduate and undergraduate students with the opportunity to gather information about potential employers in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Executive Development Programme on ESG in Hospitality and Tourism Held at SHTM

Organised by the SHTM and supported by Hotel ICON and Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Asia Pacific, the Executive Development Programme on ESG in Hospitality and Tourism was successfully held in March 2023, attracting a host of participants.

2023 Mentorship Programme Successfully Kicked Off

Since 2002, the SHTM has paired full-time hospitality and tourism students aspiring to build careers in the industry with seasoned industry professionals who provide tailored advice and guidance.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

Professor Kaye Chon signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mr Jerome Qiu, Chief Operating Officer, Greater China of InterContinental Hotels Group (Shanghai) Ltd, on 28 February 2023, which will pave the way for a mutually beneficial industry partnership.

SHTM VISITORS

10 March – Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Hong Kong

His Excellency Shaikh Saoud Ali Almualla, Consul General, Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Hong Kong, and Mr Nasser Bahlooq, Area Head Hong Kong, Emirates Airlines, visited the School.

Professor Haiyan Song and Professor Cathy Hsu attended the 33rd Annual Council for Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE) Conference in Western Australia on 7-9 February 2023.
