IMPACT2023: Bridging Theory and Practice Whilst Exploring Tourism and Hospitality in the Post-Pandemic Era
The IMPACT2023 conference is being organised by the SHTM and its Hospitality and Tourism Research Centre, in collaboration with STR, and will be held at Hotel ICON in Hong Kong on 7 and 8 December 2023.

Bridging theory and practice has been a constant theme in the fields of tourism and hospitality. With its theme of "Tourism and Hospitality in the Post-Pandemic Era", IMPACT2023 will serve as a platform on which industry executives, government officials and academics can interact to discuss trends and insights, share research findings and practices, explore creative pathways and envisage strategies with the goals of achieving sustainability, revitalisation and resilience after the pandemic. The conference aims to achieve the following objectives:
  • To promote impactful research that will improve practice in the fields of tourism and hospitality, especially in the post-pandemic era,
  • To build capacity in the community through enhancing awareness and interactions amongst academics, industry practitioners, government offices and administrations, NGOs and organisations, and
  • To optimise the diffusion and utilisation of research through innovative and creative modes of communication.

Awards

To support the SHTM's mission of nurturing research talent amongst undergraduate students of hospitality and tourism, a competition for the best paper award will be open to undergraduate students. Selection of the award recipients will be based on reviews of or recommendations regarding their final submissions. For more details on the Undergraduate Student Research Competition, please refer to the next article.
