Dean Kaye Chon, Ph.D. students Ms Mehrnaz Alizadeh, Ms Nancy Grace Baah, Ms Mavis Adjoa Forson and Ms Xinying Xu, and D.HTM student Ms Jinjin Zeng attended the 29th Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism in Miami, Florida, USA on 4-6 January 2024.
  • Dean Chon participated in the panel session "Journal Editorial Panel".
  • Ms Alizadeh presented a co-authored paper entitled "What Makes Influencer Generated Contents Congruent/Incongruent in the Eyes of Viewers?".
  • Ms Baah presented a co-authored paper entitled "Sustainable Hospitality Consumption Value and Its Effect on Customers' Green Satisfaction and Subjective Well-Being".
  • Ms Forson presented a co-authored paper entitled "Imposter Syndrome and Women's Career Advancement in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry".
  • Ms Xu presented a co-authored paper entitled "Becoming a Digital Nomad: Exploring the Happiness of Remote Work Tourists".
  • Ms Zeng presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Impact of Short Videos on Tourists' Risk Perceptions in Internet Celebrity Travel Destinations".
Dean Kaye Chon spoke on "Innovations and Leadership in Hospitality and Tourism" at a seminar at the Griffith University in Australia on 22 January 2024.
Dr Dan Wang, Dr Ying Wang, Dr Nan Chen and Dr Ming Deng attended the 34th Annual Council for Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE) Conference in Hobart, Australia on 6-9 February 2024. Dr Dan Wang and Dr Deng presented two co-authored papers entitled "Inspiring Traveller Engagement with Plastic Waste Issues through Travel Live Streaming" and "Developing a Hotel Environmental Sustainability Management Index (HESMI) for Hotels in Hong Kong: An Action Research". Dr Ying Wang presented a co-authored paper entitled "Conflict Experience as Social Exchange – The Role of Power". Dr Chen presented a paper entitled "Exploring the Effect of Realistic Mortality Reminders on Travel Decision Making".
Professor Haiyan Song delivered a speech entitled "Asia Pacific Visitor Forecast: 2024-2026" at the PATA webinar "The Scientific Crystal Ball: Forecasting the Future Tourism Market" on 7 February 2024.
Professor Haiyan Song spoke on "Tourism Monitor Forecast & Trends" and also participated in the panel discussion "Trailblazing the Future of India Tourism" at the 3rd edition of PATA India's Tourism Powerhouse in New Delhi on 21 February 2024.
The SHTM participated in the Holiday and Travel Expo 2024 held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 22-25 February. On 22 February, Dean Kaye Chon delivered a keynote speech entitled "Hospitality and Tourism in the Post-Pandemic Era" at the Travel Forum "Shaping the Future of the Travel Industry" held at the Expo.
The SHTM participated in the ITB Berlin 2024 held at the Berlin ExpoCenter City on 5-7 March. On 5 March, Dean Kaye Chon delivered a special talk on "Mega Trends and Impacts on the Tourism Industry" and shared his profound insights into the mega trends transforming tourism worldwide and major impacts. SHTM BSc graduate Ms Kristina Braun introduced to the ITB audience about studying in SHTM, Hong Kong as well as the Master's and doctoral programmes.
Dean Kaye Chon gave a lecture on "Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism Industry" to the students at the Yew Wah International Education School of Guangzhou on 15 March 2024.
Dean Kaye Chon delivered a distinguished lecture on "Your Future in Asia's Century of Hospitality and Tourism" at the Shunde Polytechnic in Guangdong on 16 March 2024, with the support of the Katie Shu Sui Pui Charitable Trust.
