Inauguration of the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism
Under the directorship of Professor Haiyan Song, SHTM Associate Dean, Chair Professor and Mr and Mrs Chan Chak Fu Professor in International Tourism, the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism (RCdTT) was recently established with a view towards optimising travel experiences and business operations through the digital transformation of the tourism industry and ensuring its environmental and business sustainability.
SHTM Launches First Automated and Self-Adaptive Platform for Tourism Demand Forecasts Across the Greater Bay Area

Total international visitor arrivals to the Greater Bay Area (GBA) are forecasted to recover to the pre-pandemic level, reaching close to 130 million by the end of 2024, and the total number of inbound visitor arrivals to Hong Kong will recover to the 2018 level of 65 million by 2025.
2024 Mentorship Programme Connects Students with Mentors

Since 2002, the SHTM has paired full-time hospitality and tourism students aspiring to build careers in the industry with seasoned industry professionals who provide tailored advice and guidance. More than 160 participants attended this year's SHTM Mentorship Programme Award Presentation cum Luncheon Meeting on 24 February.
Career Expo 2024

On 22 March, the School hosted its 2024 Career Expo, providing opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to meet potential employers in the hospitality and tourism industry. This year, close to 50 employers set up exhibition booths, and businesses included local organisations and international chains in the hospitality, catering and tourism sectors.
Enrolment in MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management Programme Exceeds 113,000

The SHTM's MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management , a unique and highly distinguished Master's programme provided on the world-renowned edX online learning platform, has enrolled more than 113,000 students from close to 240 countries and regions.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

Ph.D. student Ms Xinying Xu received the Best Conference Paper Award for her co-authored paper entitled "Becoming a Digital Nomad: Exploring the Happiness of Remote Work Tourists" at the 29th Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism in Miami, Florida, USA on 4-6 January 2024.
SHTM VISITORS

12 March – Royal Thai Government, Thailand

Mr Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Royal Thai Government visited the SHTM and Hotel ICON. Mr Wechayachai also showcased a cooking demo in the Thai Cooking workshop.

Professor Haiyan Song spoke on "Tourism Monitor Forecast & Trends" and also participated in the panel discussion "Trailblazing the Future of India Tourism" at the 3rd edition of PATA India's Tourism Powerhouse in New Delhi on 21 February 2024.
